FMA 014: Louis Wittman & Patrick Stolzmann (Peace Of Mind)

Just seconds before we started shooting the interview the band decided who would actually do the video. Guitarist David was in the mix as well but then resigned to let Louie and Patrick do the honors.

Before I interviewed PEACE OF MIND I had only known their name through various Facebook-event-invitations. After someone told me that they just existed for more than a year I couldn’t trust my eyes or ears because what I saw on stage did absolutely not match such a young band. This was just way too tight, powerful and intense for a rookie band.

A month after my personal PEACE OF MIND-defloration I saw them burn a stage once more. After those two impressions I am definitely not surprised that Powertrip Records had taken them under their wings.

By the way: This was the first FMA-photo I took from my knees.

FMA 013: Rich Unsworth & Jake Marlowe (Desolated)

Rich Unsworth & Jake Marlowe (Desolated)
Soon after I had inquired DESOLATED for an interview Jake was so kind to just add me on Facebook. That way we scheduled an interview during their tour with LIONHEART.

After I had arrived at the venue and explained to Jake who I was he reached out to Rich for joining.

I organized three chairs and we set down backstage while the opening act was already playing (as you will hear in the video because a couple of people walked in and out of the backstage area) and I was pretty afraid that no one is gonna understand what Richie and Jake have said. Luckily, it didn't effect the video that much.

Nash from NASTY helped out as DESOLATED-drummer during that LIONHEART-run and enjoyed watching some ski jumping after their set.
Fortunately, we’re all just people with different and diverse interests.

FMA 012: Andy Kesic (Born As Lions)

Unfortunately, the lighting was not as good as I thought. So Andy ends up awfully blurry and fuzzy in the video.

Originally, we intended to include singer Henny in the video, as well. But after the show he simply felt too exhausted to provide some in-depth thoughts on the topic. After all, the opening saying (“As the devil was bored it gave money to the people”) was chipped in by him.

The following week BORN AS LIONS played another local show and we scheduled a retry for that evening. But sadly Henny hurt his leg that day and wanted to return home early. Their bassist Steven advised me to just stick with the video I already had.

I did.

Well, I guess those things simply happen.

FMA 011: Hadrian Besson (Wolfpack)

WOLFPACK replaced US-based KHUBLAI KHAN the night I went out to see a HC-/Beatdown-show. They weren’t scheduled to be part of that tour so I did not have the chance to contact them before the concert.

That way I had no other option than just simply walk up to and ask them if they’d be interested in a little interview.
Luckily they agreed to do it after their set which was just about to begin.

After Hadrian dried up and calmed down we sat down and I received one of the most intimate videos I’ve shot during this project. I really felt that he, to some extent at least, really stripped down and revealed what’s going in his mind: in life as well as on stage.
This video still stands out to me as one of the most sincere interviews of FMA.
